On Wednesday, February 1, at 6:42 PM, the Town of Pelham Fire Department received a call from homeowners who arrived at a home on Whitehall Gate, in Fonthill, and found smoke in the building.
According to Town of Pelham communications specialist Leah Letford, the first arriving officer on the scene observed heavy smoke conditions, and the call was upgraded to a structure fire. A total of 36 volunteer firefighters attended, coming from Station #1 in Fonthill and Station #2 in Fenwick.
The volunteers' efforts resulted in the fire's containment, and adjacent buildings were not impacted, said Letford. Firefighters remained on the scene until midnight before clearing the call. Total estimated damages to the Whitehall Gate property and the cause of the fire remain under investigation. No injuries were reported.
