NEWS RELEASE
NIAGARA MOVEMENT FOR JUSTICE IN PALESTINE-ISRAEL

The Niagara Movement for Justice in Palestine-Israel (NMJPI) will demonstrate at the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) office at 32 Church St., St. Catharines, to demand it investigate more than a dozen Israel-focused charities that are illegally tied to settlements in the West Bank, racist Israeli organization, and Israel’s military. NMJPI insists the CRA follow-up after already revoking the charitable status of the Jewish National Fund and Ne’eman Canada and will demonstrate at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 5 as part of an International Day of Action.

In January Just Peace Advocates asked the CRA to audit Ne’eman Canada for links to the Israeli military and illegal settlements in the West Bank. The CRA documents revoking the charitable status of the Jewish National Fund and Ne’eman Canada say these organizations violated the law by registering as a charity.

Desmond Sequeira, co-founder of NMJPI, explained "As a Canadian taxpayer I won’t allow the CRA to let even one cent pay for an ongoing genocide."

The Niagara Movement for Justice in Palestine Israel (NMJPI) was founded in 2020 and has organized demonstrations, letter writing, film screenings, fundraisers, and other actions to bring about permanent peace for all in Palestine and Israel. NMJPI believes the most effective vehicle to accomplish this goal is the global Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement targeting the Government and businesses of Israel and the illegal settlements encroaching on Palestinian land.
