PelhamToday has reached out to candidates running to represent Niagara West in the Feb. 27 provincial election to tell voters in their own words about themselves and what issues they think are important to Ontarians. Here is Liberal candidate Shauna Boyle’s response:
Name: Shauna Boyle
Age: 47
Where are you from? I am from West Lincoln, and I live in Smithville
Party Affiliation: Ontario Liberal Party
Why have you decided to run for office?
I am running to be your voice, to be the voice for those who feel unheard, for those who are unable to speak up for themselves. To stand up to the bullies who tell us we don't deserve strong communities, good jobs and access to health care.
What do you bring to the table that sets you apart from other candidates?
I will be a representative who understands your struggles first hand because I have lived them. I will not be silenced by political noise, and I will stand up for Niagara West. I’m here to fight for the policies that are important to you, our health care, our education and create good jobs.
In 750 words or less, what do you feel are the top three issues facing Niagara residents (and Ontarians in general) and how would you address them beyond simply providing more funding?
There are many issues facing Niagara residents. Most people are very concerned with all of our major services being in crisis that they are unable to focus on the ones specific to Niagara West. First, we need to stop the bleeding of tax dollars being spent by Ford and allocate it to the proper services such as access to health care, more teachers in classrooms and lower taxes on heating and hydro bills, making lives more affordable.
