Earlier this fall, Fenwick Lion President Bill King and Past President Jeff Pickup attended the first face-to-face "Meet and Greet" at the Lions Foundation of Canada Guide Dog (LFOC GD) Facility in Oakville. They represented the Fabulous Fenwick Lions Club.
King presented the club’s donation of $29,250 to Danielle Rosenblum, Community Partnership Manager, LFOC GD. $9,250 was the second installment of the club’s $50,000, 5-year commitment to the LFOC GD Building Fund, $10,000 to sponsor a Seizure Response Guide Dog, $8,000 to sponsor a Diabetic Alert Guide Dog and $2,000 toward Judge Brian Stevenson Fellow awards.
In the past 18 years the club has sponsored 33 Guide Dogs: 20 Sight, four Service, three Hearing, three Autism, one Facility Support, one Seizure Response, and one Diabetic Alert, for a total donation of $235,000.
At the same time, King and Pickup were able to visit with the Hearing Support Dog Wendy that had just graduated, and recipient Mary Ann, from Cambridge.
“As do Lions all around the world, the Fabulous Fenwick Lions Club prides itself in helping prevent blindness and assisting vision impaired individuals,” says club Communications Director Mike Manzoni.
