A popular restaurant in Niagara is being recognized worldwide. Restaurant Pearl Morissette in Lincoln has been honoured with a spot on the 2024 La Liste Top 1,000 Restaurants in the World.

Eric Robertson, chef and co-owner, said when it started six years ago, the restaurant was supported by the community from day one.

“I'm very humbled by this recognition and also very proud of being able to represent Lincoln on the world stage, or national stage or even here just day to day is very special,” he said. “These distinctions can be few and far between for Canadian restaurants, but with a light being shone on the Niagara region, I’m excited to see what momentum this brings to our initiatives.”

Robertson and the team at Pearl Morissette went to Paris last November to accept the award.

Britnie Bazylewski, a tourism development officer with the Town, said the process to be chosen for La Liste is a rigorous one.

“The process comes about by aggregating thousands and thousands and thousands of peer reviews, whether that's from food critics, it's from peer reviews from you and I dining at restaurants globally,” she said. “This list is curated very highly by the top industry professionals from across the globe.”

Often referred to as the gastronomic compass of the world, La Liste is a renowned guide that annually curates a list of the 1,000 best restaurants across the globe. Bazylewski said Pearl Morissette being chosen for the list not only speaks volumes to the talent and the expertise of the restaurant, but also “draws attention to their constancy and purpose in honouring our local agrarian landscape, and our farmers and our local artisans.”

Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton extended her congratulations.

“We are proud to see our town represented on the global stage, showcasing the unique flavours and experiences the Niagara Benchlands have to offer,” she said.
