WEATHER ALERT
ENVIRONMENT CANADA
*************************
Issued at 2024-12-19 3:21PM EST by Environment Canada:
Weather advisory issued for:
   Niagara, Ont.

Current details:
Winter weather travel advisory in effect for Friday afternoon into Friday evening.

Hazards:
Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations of 5 to 10 cm.
Poor visibility at times in heavy snow.

Timing:
Friday afternoon into Friday evening.

Discussion:
A low pressure system will bring light snow to the area beginning early Friday morning. A band of lake effect snow off Lake Ontario will develop tonight and move south into the area early Friday afternoon. This band, combined with the low pressure system, is expected to produce locally enhanced snowfall amounts. The Friday afternoon commute will be affected. Snow will taper to light flurries late Friday evening.

Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.

Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance.
