Here’s what’s open and closed on the Civic Holiday Monday

Town offices closed, but grocery stores, pharmacies, and LCBO open in Pelham

Pelham Town Hall and fire administration offices will be closed on Monday, Aug. 5, for the civic holiday, some Town programs and services will still be available.

The Meridian Community Centre will be open, and all regular scheduled programs will continue, as will Town-operated day camps. The outdoor pool at Marlene Stewart Streit Park will be open and all swimming lessons and aquatic programs will operate as normal.

Facilities that are closed on Monday will re-open on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

In the event of after-hours emergency situations related to water, sewer, or road conditions, and where there is imminent danger to public or private property, call 905-892-2607 and follow the prompts or dial 905-734-0892 directly.

For non-emergency situations, a service request can be made through the Spot it? Share it! portal at www.pelham.ca/shareit.

Niagara Region offices will be closed Monday, but garbage and organics collection will still be completed. Landfills and residential waste and recycling drop-offs in Thorold (household hazardous waste), Fort Erie (waste drop-off depot) and Welland (Humberstone Landfill and Waste Drop-off) will all be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. More information is available at www.niagararegion.ca.

Most businesses such as grocery and drug stores will be open but may be operating on holiday hours.

In Pelham, pharmacies that will be open include:

• PharmaChoice Family Health Pharmacy, 130 Hwy. 20 E., Unit A5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Pharmasave Pelham Hills Pharmacy, 1-1018 Pelham St., 9 a.m. to noon.

• Shoppers Drug Mart, 20 Hwy. 20 E., 10 am. To 10 p.m.

Grocery stores – the South Pelham Sobey’s located at 609 South Pelham Rd. in Welland and the Pelham Sobey’s located at 110 Hwy. 20 E. in Fonthill will both be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Food Basics at 130 Hwy. 20 E. will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

While the Civic Holiday Monday is not a statutory holiday, it is observed as such by most provincial and federal government services, meaning they will not be available. Banks will be closed while the LCBO and The Beer Store will both be open in select locations.

In Pelham, the LCBO location at 114 Hwy. 20 E. will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As for the Beer Store, locations at 120 Welland Ave., 99 Dieppe Rd., both in St. Catharines will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., as will locations in Niagara Falls (6757 Lundy’s Ln.) and Welland (390 Lincoln St. E.).
