Notre Dame College School, in Welland, will be a busy place this coming weekend of September 29 to 31, as hundreds of alumni return to celebrate the institution’s 75th anniversary.
The Friday night kicks off the weekend with a reunion warm-up party at Mr. Mike’s Steakhouse, on Niagara Street in Welland, with live music from The Madmen, and happy hour prices on food and drinks. Current Notre Dame staff will be present 4 PM to 7 PM to meet former students. A raffle will be held with prizes, and proceeds directed to the Notre Dame special needs program for experiential learning. Another gathering on the Friday night will be held at Tailgate’s Bar and Grill, on Fitch Street. Reservations are recommended for these events.
On the Saturday, student-led school tours of the school are available from 1 PM until 4 PM, followed by a high school football game featuring the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 4 pm, on the newly opened Lacaverna Field at the school. Entrance is free, sponsored by the Notre Dame Alumni Association. Bleacher seating is available for 500 alumni, and lawn chairs are recommended for additional seating.
After the game, from 7 PM until midnight, the reunion continues inside the school, with memorabilia on display, and drinks and food available. The alumni raffle draw will occur at 11 PM. There is also a photography area for class and smaller group shots. Parking for all Saturday events is on a first-come basis.
On the Sunday, a mass with be celebrated by Father Vickers at 11 AM at Dillon Hall.
