Capacity crowd for Kinsmen Seniors Luncheon

Event is a 59-year Christmas tradition in Pelham

Christmas spirit was in abundance on Sunday as the Fonthill and District Kinsmen hosted their 59th Seniors Luncheon at the Fonthill Legion. Kinsmen Len Doyle said that they had a capacity crowd of 150 in attendance for the free meal, which included an entrée of quiche, salad, and hash brown, plus cake for dessert. All seniors received a poinsettia, and door prizes were presented by Santa himself. Musical ambience provided by pianist Frank Krahn. The meal prep cost several thousand dollars, underwritten by over a dozen generous local sponsors.

Money raised by the Kinsmen does plenty of good work in Pelham. Each of the past two years, the Kinsmen Home Show in the spring has provided $5000 to both Pelham Cares and Wellspring Niagara. Another $2500 went to Pelham Cares from the fall Kinsmen Craft Show penny sale. Other funds went to support projects at Rose City Kids, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Girls Guides, Salvation Army, the Niagara Symphony, various local sports teams, and student scholarships.
