Thank you to Richard Hutton for the write-up and pictures from our Pelham High Reunion which we held at the Royal Canadian Legion in Fonthill on June 2nd.

After our first reunion in 1984, we had $10,000 left over. We decided to set up a $1000 scholarship for a student at E.L.Crossley Secondary School. Interest rates in the ‘80 were 18 percent so we didn’t have to touch the principal for many years. After every reunion, there was always money that went into the fund and many of our alumni contributed to it. We increased the amount to $2000 in the 2000s because we saw how much tuition was going up. Then, we gave two $2000 scholarships.

When we present our Pelham High Alumni Scholarship to two students at graduation at the end of June we will have given $78,000 to 54 students. We believe we have helped these young people in achieving their goal of enrolling into post-secondary education and it makes us very proud “Panthers.”
