LETTER: Get with the program, Bub

Forget nature, it's a development world, says reader

It is hard to soar with eagles when you are dealing with turkeys.

An expression most are familiar with— it came to mind while reading another dressing down of Councillor Tony DiMarco.

He was simply making long time Welland taxpayer residents comments known that were given to him regarding over-zealous development. He was the messenger and the comments are not unlike the ones circulating in the public already.

Suddenly the mayor and councillors pile on to muzzle the speaker and condemn him for being anti-newcomer. Take heart, DiMarco, nowadays development rules and if you should feel sorry for wildlife being made homeless, farmlands, wetlands, forests paved over, well you just are not in vogue in 2024.

Should you still have the Canadian DNA that respects green space, farmlands, open spaces, just suck it up and keep it to yourself because the urban sprawlers rule and you know if they ever do get it, well, it will be suddenly too late.

But DiMarco and all of us who do get it right now, well feel confident one day we shall soar.
