It’s that time of year when JOY is in the air for most of the world’s population. For many people JOY is likely among the most wonderful of human spirits. It is a kindling or notion that may warm the heart and chase away any low-spirits that may be lingering near the heart.
There are many instances and occasions throughout life where JOY may cuddle the cockles of one’s heart. I dare here to rekindle some of these examples in the hopes of sharing some of that warmth at this time of year with friends and neighbours.
Let me start with this example of seasonal JOY. Do your recall those delectable moments before a child learned there was no Santa Claus? To live those moments was a momentous escape from reality that freed the child from the daily humdrum and drummed up his or her JOY.
How about the joy of marriage? Once the pastor declares, “I now pronounce you...,” the couple looks deeply into the eyes of the other and before their lips touch both can see the other’s heart beating feverishly with JOY.
Another such joyous moment is the birth of the first child. The parents are filled with the JOY of participating in this miracle of life. The JOY of this birth will most often continue for a lifetime.
How about the feeling brought about by the adoption of a newborn puppy or a kitten as a pet. These animals will cause great joys as they become virtual parts of the family’s most JOYOUS moments.
How about the little girl unwrapping a big box from under the Christmas tree, thunderstruck to see it is the doll house she wrote Santa about. Now isn't that the look of JOY fully exclaimed in that little girl’s face?
Let's look at the joyful expression on the little boy’s face when he takes off on his first wobbly JOY-filled ride on his two wheeler without the training wheels. That JOYFUL experience is accompanied with a ‘whoopee’ that can be heard throughout the neighbourhood.
This listing of JOYFUL moments could go on almost endlessly. It is hoped that one of these examples of delight might stir up a few of your own joyful moments from over the years. This is traditionally the most JOYFUL time of the year and it is hoped yours is just that. Enjoy the reminiscences to the limit.
