Position Overview:
Under the direction of the District Mental Health and Addictions Services Manager, the District Family Preservation Coordinator leads the work of a team of Family Preservation Workers, while carrying a reduced caseload. Primary responsibilities include case management, the coordination of intake, assessment and the implementation of family preservation strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A minimum HBSW or related degree with four years child/family counselling experience is required. An MSW is preferred
Minimum of four (4) years direct service and counselling with children, adolescents and families
A combination of training and successful experience in working with the Anishinabek people, culture, communities, traditions, and teachings
Significant experience in family intervention and / or group facilitation
Satisfactory Criminal Records Search; including a Vulnerable Sector Search
A valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate is required
Work flexible hours, according to the needs of families
Travel substantially in communities in and around the District of Thunder Bay
Work in the homes and locations familiar to client families
Posses a valid Class “G” Driver’s Licence, and have access to a personal vehicle; carry satisfactory liability insurance
Hours of Work: 32.5 hours per week
